Through clever marketing, including the use of different (but suspicious) author names and different book titles for releases which are essentially identical; short and long book editions; and coupling the Elvis story with that of other celebrities, a glut of Elvis related book titles (with repetitive text) only available from Amazon are blatantly misleading fans.

The Music Diaries – Rock, Roll, Religion – Elvis Presley’s Gospel Side Overlooked: Elvis Presley's early life and upbringing were grounded in poverty, after being born into a poor sharecropping family in Tupelo Mississippi on January 8, 1935. His depression-scarred father struggled to feed the family, and eventually had to move north in search of greener pastures in Memphis. It was there that Elvis became hooked on the music of pioneering black artistes being played on the radio, got immersed in black Memphis blues clubs, and absorbed the music of local impoverished black communities.
A roll call of Presley's close musical associates shows James Brown, bluesman B.B. King, Fats Domino, Sammy Davis Jr, Ray Charles, Rufus Thomas, Jackie Wilson, Johnny Mathis, Brook Benton, Billy Ward, Roy Hamilton and Mahalia Jackson - all negro artistes who have been photographed with Presley, and who have vouched to his non-racist leanings. |

The real Elvis Presley was a deeply religious individual who had a compelling propensity for singing hymns and recording gospel songs.
I'll bet that the flooding of the Memphis airwaves with both black and white gospel, and Presley's early attendances at gospel concerts, must have influenced his decision to get into the recording studio to do gospel songs.
His triple-CD compilation album of 2000, Peace In The Valley: The Complete Gospel Recordings debuted at number 13 on Billboard's Top Contemporary Christian album chart in January 2001. Among his early gospel releases were Take My Hand Precious Lord, It Is No Secret, If We Never Meet Again and Crying In The Chapel - all done between 1956 and 1960.
Although the Rock 'n' Roll King achieved so much in that genre, ironically, his only Grammy awards were for gospel, in the category of Best Sacred Performance. 'The Wonder Of You' Elvis UK Tour 2017 back in full swing: Following the sellout British arena tour in 2016 and the No.1 multi-platinum album The Wonder Of You, Elvis Presley's return to the UK ''The Wonder Of You' live concert experience is back in full swing.
The six date UK arena tour kicked off in Glasgow last Thursday before taking in Leeds and getting to Newcastle Arena last night 25th, while tomorrow it hits Birmingham Genting Arena (27th), then Manchester Arena (28th), with the finale at London's O2 Arena on November 30th.
Last year's run gained critical applause including, the Lancashire Telegraph's "By the end, the show left no-one in any doubt. Elvis is and always will be the king of rock and roll - and so much more besides".
Featuring a special personal appearance by Priscilla Presley, the shows will once again give fans a chance to experience the man who changed the course of popular music. |

DELUXE 'Christmas with Elvis and The RPO'Out Now: The deluxe edition of the new Elvis/RPO Christmas album album, containing four bonus tracks (new symphonic versions of material from Elvis’ Peace In The Valley EP) is now available at your local record stores from November 24. The deluxe version features this cool red cover.
It's the third album of orchestral re-workings of tracks performed by Elvis, following 2016's The Wonder Of You and 2015's If I Can Dream, the latter of which has sold over 1.1 million copies.
Priscilla Presley, executive producer, said, "I hope you’ll enjoy this new Christmas album. The songs chosen were songs that Elvis was particularly fond of and it seemed quite fitting to have the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra once again accompanying him at this very special time of year. He didn’t conform to the desires of those that wanted to see something clean cut or family friendly. He went out and rebelled just like any other rocker and he did things on his own terms. His legacy that was left behind was one that has people still talking about him, listening to him, and sees his songs still being used in pop culture for maximum effect. He is and will always be the King.

6. Passengers - A Little Less Conversation
Imagine being stuck on an interstellar relocation cruise liner and being the only one that wakes up after the ship runs afoul of a meteor storm that the autopilot somehow missed. Ah well. You’d have virtually everything you’d ever want provided that you could somehow find a way to access it. Of course you’d be alone, but that would only be an issue after a few months, or years.
5. The Conjuring 2 - I Can’t Help Falling In Love
It seems like such an odd thing to see a song this positive stuck into a horror movie, but okay. The chances are good, I haven’t seen the movie, that this scene was intended as a way for the Warren’s to get to know the children they were there to help and put them a little more at ease so that they wouldn’t be so tense. If your home was haunted would you really care about a guy playing guitar? Just sayin’…
4. Forrest Gump - Hound Dog
Forrest Gump points out a lot of things throughout history that were in fact all caused or somehow came from the mind or actions of this one character. It’d be interesting if any of it were true but |

the film is such a playful and well-written piece that no one seemed to care that it was all staged and set up to make it look like Forrest had influenced so many aspects of history.
3. American Idol - Burnin’ Love
When just one won’t do, get another, maybe two, or maybe three more to perform an Elvis medley that will drive the crowd wild. Even after all this time and all that’s transpired since Elvis’ passing, yes, he is really gone, people still absolutely love his music. There’s a lot of reasons why after all and one of them is that he’s just that good, or was. Believe it, he’s gone folks.
2. The Blues Brothers - Jailhouse Rock
It’s hard to improve on a classic and I won’t say that the Blues Brothers manage to do that entirely, but this cover is pretty good. The Blues Brothers is a movie that is so utterly ridiculous and over the top that it couldn’t help but be funny. It’s one of the classics that people either love or can’t stand and has obtained a cult following for good reason.

Trying To Get To You: The Truth Behind The Elvis And Roy Orbison Show Rumours: For decades there has always been an unsubstantiated rumour that Elvis Presley appeared as a guest on Roy Orbison's TV show on the local station KOSA.
The Roy Orbison website notes that both Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley performed on Roy’s TV show in late 1955.
Respected author Colin Escott wrote in his book Good Rockin’ Tonight about a kinescope of Elvis on the Roy Orbison TV show actually existing.
Some keen Elvis fans have said that they have seen this very kinescope at Elvis Week shows back in the 80s.
But like infamous Pied Piper of Cleveland does this footage really exist and is there any real proof that Elvis did appear on the Roy Orbison TV show?

Elvis' Dr Feelgood Elias Ghanem: Elias Ghanem was a doctor to both Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson (need we say more?). He later became the chairman of Nevada's State Athletic Commission.
Dr. Ghanem was originally a Lebanese immigrant who went from being an emergency room doctor to a "physician to the stars". His patients also included Bill Cosby, Ann-Margaret and Barron Hilton.
Ghanem's part in Elvis' downfall is often overlooked due to the extreme focus being placed on Dr Nick.
Recently The Spa Guy has posted an interesting youtube video which takes you to the grave of Elvis' Dr Feelgood Elias Ghanem in Las Vegas and discusses the influence he had on Elvis.

| Interview - Angie Marchese, Graceland Director of Archives: Following the success of the 2014/15 Elvis at the O2 exhibition, which attracted a staggering 200,000 visitors, Graceland have decided to return to London’s O2 Arena with the Elvis on Tour The Exhibition. The focus this time has been narrowed down to the period from 1969 – 1977 and over 200 items are included from the Graceland archive, including over 35 outfits, costume sketches and guitars that Elvis used onstage.
Zoey Goto, author of Elvis Style: From Zoot Suits to Jumpsuits visited the exhibition to meet with Graceland’s director of archives, Angie Marchese to discuss how the show was put together and Elvis’ unique style. Angie also discusses who had creative control of Elvis' on-stage fashions, the "must-see" item of the Exhibition and other artists that have been influenced by Elvis' striking fashion sense.

Dan Warlick Nashville attorney dies at 69: Dan Warlick (right) was the chief investigator for the medical examiner when on Aug. 16, 1977, rock 'n' roll legend Elvis Presley died. Shortly thereafter, Warlick would leave to become an attorney. He died on Nov. 16 at his home in Nashville.
Before relocating to Nashville, the former chief investigator for the Tennessee Office of the State Chief Medical Examiner resided in Memphis, where he was on duty the day Elvis Presley's body was found.
After arriving at the hospital to confirm Presley was dead, Warlick "went directly to Graceland" and joined homicide detectives as they photographed and investigated the scene.
Warlick, in medical school at the time, also participated in Presley's autopsy with medical examiner Dr. Jerry Francisco.
Dr, George Nichopoulos and his attorney, Dan Warlick, said drugs in Elvis' system were not at "toxic or lethal levels" when he died. "He died a natural death," said Warlick.

After beginning to work at a medical malpractice law firm in Memphis, Warlick eventually moved to Nashville, where he met Yarbrough.
In 1999 he sued Tammy Wynette's doctor for her wrongful death,
"Of course, Dan was perfect for that type of case, because he knew the medical side and the legal side," Yarbrough said.
Warlick was described as someone with "a tremendous sense of humor" who "really enjoyed life,"
Yarbrough noted Warlick's "brilliant mind and a deep concern for his clients."

David Cassidy has died, 67: David Cassidy, the former teenage heart-throb of 1970s TV show The Partridge Family, has died at the age of 67.
Cassidy was surrounded by his family when he died - he was in a Florida hospital suffering from organ failure.
The teen and pre-teen idol starred in the 1970s sitcom and sold millions of records as the musical group's lead singer.
The Partridge Family aired from 1970-74 and was intended at first as a vehicle for Shirley Jones, the Oscar-winning actress and Cassidy's stepmother.
Jones played Shirley Partridge, a widow with five children with whom she forms a popular act that travels on a psychedelic bus. The cast featured Cassidy as eldest son and family heartthrob Keith Partridge.
Cassidy went on to a hugely successful solo career as a singer and pop idol.
He was extremely popular in Australia too, with singles I Think I Love You and Cherish hitting the number one spot on the charts.

In a similar teenage impact to Elvis in the fifties, Cassidy swept hurricane-like into the pre-pubescent lives of millions of American girls. He sold six and a half million albums and singles; 44 television programs; David Cassidy lunch boxes, bubble gum, colouring books, wall posters, love beads etc
In the 1970's his jumpsuit stagewear was also copied from Elvis Presley's dynamic costumes.
Kicked out of high school for truancy, David Cassidy dreamed of becoming an actor and had made appearances on Bonanza, Ironside and other programs before producers at ABC television asked him to audition for The Partridge Family.
In 2010 Cassidy was arrested in Florida on suspicion of drink-driving after police said they found a half-empty bottle of whisky in his car.
Even while "The Partridge Family" was still in primetime, Cassidy worried that he was mistaken for the wholesome character he played.

It is called 'THE KING STRIKES BACK!' and for the first time ever, all rehearsal and live soundboard recordings are presented in best possible sound quality and in one box!
These recordings were released through the years by various bootleg labels and by the official collectors FTD label, too. Nevertheless, many of these original releases are hard to find nowadays, including several already deleted FTD CDs!
For some of these recordings we have used master cassettes as a source. We have spent dozens of hours in studio, to restore and enhance them. As usual, every recording was treated individually and restored from scratch, using today's advanced technology to achieve the best possible sound quality.

'Elvis: Lake Tahoe '74' FTD In-Depth Review: 'ELVIS: Lake Tahoe ‘74' features another value-for-money double pack with two Dinner Shows from May 25 and May 26 1974. This a 2-CD 5” digipack release.
The setlist at Lake Tahoe this season was fine, and while the May 25, 1974 Dinner Show has been out as an audience recording, the May 26, 1974 Dinner Show is totally unreleased.
Although both concerts are "Dinner Shows" on May 26, with The Jackson 5 in the audience, Elvis was inspired and included several rarities - and pushed the band on with unexpected reprises.
Both concerts create a good combination - making this a great two-for-one release from FTD.

Graceland Holiday lighting ceremony: The holidays have officially arrived at Graceland. On Thursday Elvis Presley's home was lit up for all to enjoy.
"It really looks like we're going back in time," said Elvis' longtime friend George Klein. "Elvis really loved Christmas. It was his favorite holiday."
Klein goes way back and remembered lighting up the Whitehaven home with Elvis for the very first time in 1957.
"We used a broomstick as part of the light switch," he said.
Since then the tradition has grown and attracted people from all over the world.
The extensive Christmas display at Elvis' home includes hundreds of blue lights along the driveway, a life-size Nativity scene, Santa and his sleigh, and much more.

'Christmas With Elvis And RPO' - another poor review: Almost all the general media have ignored the release of the new 'Elvis and the RPO' Christmas album.
However CASHBOX recently published a review by David Bowling - and it's not good.
It rates the album 2/5 - identical to EIN's rating in our review.
Cashbox review includes.. "You better watch out, you better not cry, better not pout, I’m telling you why, Elvis Presley is coming to town (again).
Christmas is less than three months away and another batch of Elvis Presley music has been re-imagined. The latest in the Elvis sweepstakes is 13 of his Christmas tunes, now being backed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
Elvis Presley’s three Christmas albums have sold a combined 24 million copies and his original 1950’s Christmas album remains his biggest selling album. The original release is one of the better Christmas releases in that it combines rock, sacred, and gospel with some gritty and in several cases bluesy vocals by the king. It is just about the perfect Christmas album. |

As Jim Croce wrote, “You don’t tug on Superman’s cape, you don’t spit into the wind, you don’t pull the mask off the old Lone Ranger,” - and you don’t mess around with the perfect Christmas album.
In many ways the background orchestra takes away from the power of Elvis’ vocals. When the orchestra is reduced to the distant background and the vocals are more upfront, it is just a better listen such as “Merry Christmas Baby.”
If you have not heard or want to obtain some of Elvis’ Christmas music, seek out a copy of his original first album. It is readily available. If you are an Elvis fan who has to have everything, then go ahead. - Rating: **

EPE goes to court over New Arena: The saga of EPE's proposed 6,200-seat venue on its Graceland campus took another turn Wednesday.
Officials from EPE Inc. filed a declaratory judgment action asking the Chancery Court of Shelby County to declare that the development of the venue would not violate the non-compete and non-participation covenants in the FedExForum use and operating agreement between the City of Memphis and Memphis Grizzlies.
In its statement, EPE wrote, "It is, and always has been, EPE's position that the FedExForum Use and Operating agreement does not prohibit the City of Memphis and Shelby County from extending tax incentives to support the development of the 6,200-seat venue in the same manner that the city and county regularly extend such incentives to other qualifying commercial enterprises."
The statement goes on to read, "Despite EPE's good faith negotiations and its proposal to substantially change the development and to agree to limitations on the use of the multi-purpose facility, EPE was not able |

to reach a reasonable business agreement with the City of Memphis and the Memphis Grizzlies."
On Aug. 22, EPE presented its original plans for the concert and event facility to Memphis City Council and asked them to support an increase in the tax increment financing from 50 to 65 percent to fund the venue.
The Memphis Commercial Appeal takes a rather negative view saying "EPE takes on Memphis and the Grizzlies with a misguided lawsuit"

Elvis Divorce papers sell for £20,000: Divorce papers signed by Elvis and his ex-wife Priscilla have sold for £20,000 at auction.
The papers, 12 pages, include details of the divorce after the couple, who married in 1967, started living apart in 1972.
As part of the settlement, Elvis signed over to Priscilla his 1971 Mercedes Benz, 1969 Cadillac Eldorado, Harley-Davidson motorbike and $100,000.
The documents also reveal the 'Dallas' star received half of the income from their three properties in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles and Palm Springs.
It reads: "The parties were married on May 1, 1967 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Unfortunate circumstances and unhappy differences have arisen between the parties by reason of which they have lived separate and apart since February 23, 1972, and by reason of which they intend to dissolve their marriage."
The papers were sold to a phone bidder from USA at the Henry Aldridge Auctioneers in Devizes. The auctioneer said the 12 papers were a "fabulous piece of show business history".

The papers, from 15 August 1972, have been signed three times by Elvis and four times by Priscilla. These are exceptional examples of Elvis's signature, being both bold and large. It is extremely rare to have Elvis sign in his full name, Elvis Aaron Presley, and also Aaron with two AAs, as it was written on his tombstone. Each of the 12 pages contains fascinating details and offers the reader a snapshot into the details involved between both parties that only legal documents can give.
He said the person selling the items was a collector from USA and had chosen the Wiltshire auction house after seeing the company's previous sales of Elvis material reported in US media.

"Dodgy" Elvis Auction results: With so many of Elvis' true friends and acquaintances no longer with us, getting verification on Elvis memorabilia up for auction is getting harder and harder. 'COA's (certificate of authenticity) are becoming less and less reliable as unscrupulous collectors try to make big cash from Elvis' legacy.
One of the dodgiest looking Elvis auctions happened at the weekend, with Bill Kinard selling supposed Elvis owned items through GWS auctions.
A supposed genuine "Aloha" jumpsuit was withdrawn early on once it was shown to be a fake.

And of course, the wooden house which just like the Caddy, has no evidence at all PLUS, the star witness has told 2 totally different tales....on film, regarding the year it was moved.
Although we prevented these big ticket items from selling, we do believe Kinard had a few other items in this auction that were just ridiculous and in fact SHOCKING that an auction
house would even give them the time of day, let alone put them up and promote them?

"You'll Be Gone" as Morrissey B-Side: Morrissey (ex The Smiths) has announced the third single to his new upcoming 11th solo album 'Low in High School' as "Jacky's Only Happy When She's Up on the Stage" to be released as a 7" single with a cover of Elvis Presley's "You'll Be Gone" as the b-side, a rendition the singer opened with on his tour's kickoff date in Portland.
This rather obscure Elvis song has been occasionally featured in Morrissey's live sets since 2015.
Morrissey, a lifelong connoisseur of mid-century American pop culture, had previously put an Elvis Presley cover to tape on the Smiths' live album Rank, on which a shortened cover of "(Marie's the Name) His Latest Flame" was performed as a segue into the band's Meat Is Murder cut, "Rusholme Ruffians."
Audiences got their first preview of "Jacky's Only Happy When She's Up on the Stage" during a live performance on the BBC Radio 6 program 6 Music Live.
The Smiths 1987 single 'Shoplifters of the World Unite' also featured Elvis on the cover of the single.
Morrissey is noted to be an Elvis fan and has dressed in Elvis' Leather jumpsuit look in the past.

- 'Stormy Weather Ahead' - A new double CD dedicated to Elvis' August/ September '74 season. This recording was taken directly from a recently found new source audience-recorded mastertape. September 2nd Dinner Show - this fascinating, previously unreleased concert now in such excellent sound quality!
The penultimate show in Elvis' August/September '74 season was a memorable occasion, especially for British and European fans in attendance. Certain issues in Elvis' personal life influenced what took place on stage at that Labor Day performance.
The set list included several songs unique to this season: "It's Midnight", "Big Boss Man" and "If You Talk In Your Sleep", the latter with a karate demo midway.
In between songs, he related stories ranging from the amusing to serious topics - the circumstances surrounding his divorce and the overblown stories in the movie magazines. Along the way, Elvis' emotions ranged from undisguised anger (the drug stories) to tenderness - introducing Priscilla and their six-year old daughter Lisa Marie. -

- 'Breakdown In Baltimore' - A new double CD dedicated to Elvis' May '77 tour "40 Years After Vol. 3". This recording was taken directly from a new audience recorded mastertape.
The Baltimore, May 29th, 1977 show was never before available in such good sound quality!
When The King made his last visit to Baltimore 40 years ago, no one knew he would be dead less than three months later. But many suspected that something was wrong.
The Elvis Presley who took to the stage at the Civic Center on May 29, 1977, was not the Elvis most of his fans knew. Presley was no longer the sexy, virile, electric presence that revolutionized both the recording industry and live performing in his heyday. Still, his voice and charisma were present.
As usual, Elvis opened the show with “See See Rider,” it was reported that Elvis left the stage for 30 minutes, actually it was barely 20 minutes and after his return, Elvis performed knock-out versions of “Help Me”, “Hurt” and THE SONG of the evening: a fantastic version of “Unchained Melody”.
He must have felt terrible, but still he pulled out all the stops to be Elvis Presley for his audience. A must, and a unique insight into the man’s will-power and love for his fans.

- 'Rockin' And Lovin' In Las Vegas' - A single CD with the previously unreleased Las Vegas August 17, 1972 Dinner show. It was taken from a 1st generation copy of an original audience recorded cassette, made back in the 70s by English super-fan and collector Rex Martin. Once again the sound quality is great! Rex taped many shows and usually, his recordings were of very good sound quality. He also filmed portions of shows with 8mm camera.
The August 17th Dinner show was another great performance by Elvis. Elvis performs a solid and very entertaining shows. His vocals are outstanding. The liner notes are taken from recent Rex Martin August 1972 personal notes. This new release will be presented in a beautiful 3-panel digipak that includes rare photos taken in Las Vegas in August/September 1972. If you liked Straight Arrows previous 1972 releases - then brace yourself, because this is another keeper!

Priscilla in Australia: Priscilla first arrived in Brisbane earlier this week for her show 'Elvis and Me: An Evening with Priscilla Presley'. (See Tour Details Below)
Tour insiders confirmed rumours that she had left Scientology, despite a representative for Presley publicly denying the reports.
“She is completely out of it,” the insider said. “She says she lives a normal life.”
Fans will be able to ask her more at her show where the 72-year-old Priscilla talks about her teenage years, being romanced by Elvis, their marriage and life inside the gates of Graceland.
She also answers questions from the audience.
She said that she was also excited to spend a day watching the horse racing on Oaks Day at Flemington.
Elvis' ex-wife explained that she is very familiar with horses.
"I'm very fond of them, I had horses at Graceland, a quarter horse and a Tennessee Walking Horse.
Wearing an outfit by Australian designer Manning Cartell, Presley said she was very fond of Melbourne.
"It's my third time here but I've never had as much time as I do now. Last night I was on the river and I was able to see whole city and all the lights lit and had a little glass of wine and it was absolutely beautiful."

Lisa Marie suing former financial managers for squandering over $100Million: 49-year-old Lisa Marie has stated that her managers stopped paying her taxes in 2012 and 'secretly used her money' on 'bad investments'
Lisa Marie Presley is said to be filing a lawsuit 'as early as Monday' against her former financial managers.
She is suing Provident Financial Management for 'squandering more than $100M over the last decade.'
It began in 2004 when the 49-year-old entrusted PFM's Senior Managing Director Barry J. Siegel to sell 85 percent of her late father's estate to Robert F.X. Sillerman for $100M.
According to TMZ, the singer claimed Sillerman and Siegel's investments tanked, including putting $9M into an English estate then stopping payments.
Lisa Marie alleged that PFM stopped paying her income taxes in 2012, which left her with a $7M IRS bill and, as of May 2016, the trust was depleted to $14K on top of her $500K credit card debt.
Siegel responded that Presley went broke twice due to her own spending habits, and he reportedly plans on countersuing for $800K in unpaid management fees.

'ELVIS Christmas' with the RPO' - Shane Brown Review: The new Christmas album supposedly brings together the legend’s yuletide performances from both his 1957 and 1971 Christmas Albums, re-imagined with new arrangements performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

raises the issue that fans should be genuinely concerned what these
"Re-Imagined" versions are doing to Elvis great musical legacy.
The REAL ISSUE could be that the desperation to earn a quick "Christmas" buck may lead to Elvis' musical legacy being diluted by overdubbed tacky M-O-R versions that have nothing to do with Elvis' original recordings.
He suggests, "All good things must come to an end. Thankfully, all bad things must come to an end, too – and the new Christmas release should prove to be the end of the road of the RPO albums with Elvis."

Elvis the "Bling King" London O2 Exhibition: The UK Guardian reports on the new Elvis exhibition in London. More than 200 artefacts from Graceland, jumpsuits included, give London fans colourful picture of singer’s life on the road
There is the wildly impractical Fringe suit that got caught up in guitar leads and microphone cables, the ornate Spanish Flower suit complete with a 20lb cape, and of course the Black Phoenix suit that was originally created as a zebra.
“Elvis looked at the design upside down and said ‘that’s a weird looking bird,’” explained Graceland’s director of archives Angie Marchese. “So the designer had to figure out where Elvis had seen a bird and make it look like a bird.”
Marchese’s memories of bell-bottomed jumpsuits were prompted by the opening of a three-month Elvis Presley exhibition at London’s O2.
Opening last Friday, it explores Elvis’s touring years, between 1969 and 1977, when he was more or less always on the road in the US, performing more than 1,100 shows. More than 200 artefacts have travelled from the Graceland archives, many of which are being seen in the UK for the first time.
The outfits are the stars of the show, particularly the jumpsuits designed by Bill Belew, all given names by fans: Amber Stone, Snowflake, Conquistador, Purple Owl, Stoned Eagle, White Pyramid. The Jewelled King of Spades, the show reveals, was also known as the Kitchen Sink suit.
Other memorabilia featured as part of the exhibition.
The items are among around 40 outfits going on display at the O2 and also include the DEA jacket he wore as he arrived for what would be his final gig in Indianapolis in June 1977.

Six weeks later, Elvis was dead. Marchese acknowledged that the intense touring schedule played its part.
“He was constantly on tour, basically, and it led to his death, being always on the road in different cities. It became so routine that he became bored as an artist, by ’77 it was not the same as it was in ’69 and ’70. He was going out and doing the same thing and he wasn’t having the time to relax and renew his spirit.”
Marchese said the success of an Elvis show at the same venue three years ago, which had more than 225,000 visitors, encouraged Graceland to come up with a follow-up exhibition.

religion and numerology – guitars, including the Gretzch Country Gentlemen, which he used onstage in Las Vegas in 1969; and the glamorous gold belt given to him by the International Hotel in Las Vegas.
“He is the king of bling, the first king of bling,” said Marchese. “Before bling was bling.”
The most poignant object is the trunk that was packed on the day of his death, ready to travel to Portland, Maine, for the first date of his tour.
The touring also put a huge strain on Elvis’s marriage to Priscilla, before their divorce in 1973. Nevertheless she was overwhelmed by the success of the first O2 show and excited by the new collection.

Raquel Welch talks Elvis: The gorgeous Raquel Welch is now 77-years-old and is still on TV as Rosa on UP TV’s family-friendly sitcom “Date My Dad.”
Keen Elvis fans will remember Raquel Welch worked with Elvis in 1964 in his movie “Roustabout”. (right in photo)
In 2017 Welch tells how she was surprised by Elvis when she met him on set.
“I first saw him when I was 14 in a concert performance in San Diego, along with a whole bunch of screaming teenagers, he was pretty irresistible. I was just all a flutter as a young girl. But when I finally did meet him on set, he just didn’t look the same. It looked like they cleaned him up.
"It was like white bread or something. It was not at all his kind of sassiness that he exhibited on stage. The way he wore his hair, the kind of clothes he wore, the way he moved. It was just all very polite now… What happened to the rebellious, sexy guy? I was so in love with him as a teenager.”
Welch would later see Presley again in Las Vegas, where he underwent another transformation.
“Later in Vegas Elvis was wearing a lot of studded jumpsuits. That was not the Elvis I was crazy about.

He still sounded like Elvis, but there was such a difference about it. He didn’t sound like he was 100 percent. It was more like he was doing it for all his fans. He enjoyed the adulation, obviously. But it didn’t seem to me like his involvement in the earlier part of his career was there. He didn’t have the passion anymore. He just performed a tremendous amount.”
Welch wondered if his non-stop performing schedule contributed to his early demise.
"They just had him on a treadmill all the time, repeating every wonderful thing that he did. And you could tell it was not fun for him anymore. It was a sad, sad thing that happened to him... I just think he was a nice Southern boy.”

2017 - Elvis Presley #4 Forbes Top-Earning Dead Celebrity: It is the second year
running that Elvis has been placed fourth in Forbes list of top-earning dead
celebrities.
Michael Jackson tops the list of highest-paid celebrities for the fifth year in a row, with earnings of $75 million. However this pales in comparison to his 2016 earnings of $825 million, the highest annual total for any entertainer dead or alive, mostly due to the sale of his half of the Sony/ATV catalogue. Jackson's $75 million tally puts him on par with the 17th best-paid living entertainer, Bruce Springsteen.
Elvis Presley finishes fourth with $35 million almost #10 million up from last year’s $27, thanks to the new $45 million Memphis entertainment complex and recently opened hotel The Guesthouse at Graceland.
Others on the list are Golf legend Arnold Palmer up to the No.2 spot with $40 million. Barely a year after his death, more than 400 stores still sell Palmer-branded apparel in Asia, and AriZona Beverages produces 400 million cans of its Arnold Palmer line annually. Peanuts creator Charles Schulz ranks third with income of $38 million, MetLife recently retired Snoopy and Charlie Brown from its ad campaigns, but the cartoonist’s contract does not expire until 2019.
Bob Marley rounds out the top five. Tom Petty who only died last month is (very sadly) at #6 with $20 million.
Other musicians also feature Prince at #7 and David Bowie at #11.

New London Exhibition, 'Elvis on Tour' Opens Tomorrow: Elvis Presley will be returning to The O2 in London with a new exhibition, Elvis on Tour, opening tomorrow November 3, 2017.
Following the mammoth success of 'Elvis at The O2 exhibition' which was visited by over 200,000 people, Elvis on Tour The Exhibition will showcase more than 200 artifacts from the Graceland archives many of which will be in the UK for the very first time.
This new exhibition covering the years 1969 – 1977 will provide an in-depth look at the world that was Elvis on Tour, offering a unique insight into exactly what drove the audiences wild in the ’70’s – the chance to see the King in concert as he toured America.

Fats Domino Has Died Aged 89: Fats Domino, the New Orleans rhythm-and-blues singer and one of the biggest stars of the early rock ’n’ roll era, has died in Louisiana. He was 89.
Antoine "Fats" Domino had more than three dozen US Top 40 pop hits from the early 1950s and ’60s, among them 'Blueberry Hill', 'Ain’t That a Shame', 'I’m Walkin’', 'Blue Monday' and 'Walkin’ to New Orleans'. He sold 65 million singles in those years, with 23 gold records, making him second only to Elvis Presley as a commercial force. Elvis always acknowledged Fats Domino as a predecessor.
Elvis told Jet magazine in 1957, "A lot of people seem to think I started this business, but rock ’n’ roll was here a long time before I came along. Nobody can sing that music like colored people. Let’s face it: I can’t sing it like Fats Domino can. I know that."
Rotund and standing 5 feet 5 inches Fats Domino had a big, infectious grin, a fondness for ornate, jewel-encrusted rings and an easygoing manner in performance; even in plaintive songs his voice had a smile in it. And he was a master of the wordless vocal, making hits out of songs full of "woo-woos" and "la-las."

Domino and his band carried New Orleans parade rhythms into rock ’n’ roll and put a local stamp on nearly everything they touched, even country tunes like "Jambalaya" or big-band songs like "My Blue Heaven" and "When My Dreamboat Comes Home."
Antoine Domino Jr. was born on Feb. 26, 1928, the youngest of eight children in a family with Creole roots. He grew up in the Ninth Ward of New Orleans, where he spent most of his life.
Music filled his life from the age of 10, when his family inherited an old piano. He was almost entirely self-taught, picking up ideas from boogie-woogie masters like Meade Lux Lewis, Pinetop Smith and Amos Milburn.
In 1952, on a chance visit to Cosimo Matassa’s recording studio in New Orleans, Fats Domino was asked to help out on a recording by a nervous teenager named Lloyd Price. Sitting in with Mr. Bartholomew’s band, he came up with the memorable piano part for "Lawdy Miss Clawdy," one of the first rhythm-and-blues records to cross over to a pop audience
Through the early 1950s Fats Domino turned out a stream of hits, taking up what seemed like permanent residence in the upper reaches of the R&B charts. His records began reaching the pop charts as well.

Appearances on US national television, on Steve Allen and Ed Sullivan’s shows, put him in millions of living rooms.
He did not flaunt his status as an innovator, or as an architect of a powerful cultural movement.
At Elvis' Las Vegas Press conference in 1969, Elvis interrupted a reporter who had called him "the king." He pointed to Mr. Domino, who was in the room, and said, "There’s the real king of rock ’n’ roll."
Elvis recorded Fats' 'Blueberry Hill' in 1957 as an album track for his third LP.
Fats Domino still toured worldwide until the early 80s, when he decided that he did not want to leave New Orleans, saying it was the only place where he liked the food.
He went on to perform regularly at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, and in 1987 Jerry Lee Lewis and Ray Charles joined him for a Cinemax special, "Fats Domino and Friends." He released a holiday album, "Christmas Is a Special Day," in 1993.
Reclusive and notoriously resistant to interview requests, Fats Domino stayed home even when he received a lifetime achievement Grammy Award in 1987.

'Elvis Christmas' Elvis / RPO Chart positions: 'Elvis Christmas' with The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra having been released so far before Christmas it is hardly going to have the momentum to top the charts in 8 weeks time.
Diluting the impact of the initial release with a fan-tempting "expanded" deluxe version a few weeks later will also not help the cause. So have EPE / SONY milked that "Elvis/RPO" milk-cow just a little too hard?
Unfortunately news just in is that 'Elvis Christmas' has dropped to 82 on the Official UK Album Charts dated 20th October.
On the UK Sales Chart it dropped from 13 to 39
On the UK Physical Album Chart it dropped from 10 to 29.
On the UK Scottish Album Chart it drops from 11 to 43. This week
Last week there was promise when 'Elvis Christmas' was a new UK entry at #22 on the Official UK Album chart.
'Elvis Christmas' was also a new entry at #7 on the Official UK Vinyl Album chart.
and a new entry at #11 on the Official Scottish Album chart.
'Elvis Christmas' at least made a solitary #1 on US Classical Album Chart although this week it had already dropped to #4.
In Australia it hasn't yet entered the album charts

Millie Kirkham - Bob Hayden Interview for EIN: Millie Kirkham was one of Elvis' favourite back-up singers. Upon hearing her vocal on Ferlin Husky’s million selling 1957 hit record 'Gone' Elvis asked her to join in with The Jordanaires at his 1957 recording session. Millie Kirkham would work on Elvis' studio sessions through to 1967 and join him on-stage in Las Vegas for live performances including 1970's 'That's The Way It Is' filming.
As well as working with Elvis, Millie Kirkham worked closely with the Jordanaires on some of the most famous Nashville sessions including records by George Jones, Patsy Cline, Bobby Vinton, Jim Reeves, Charley Pride and Loretta Lynn.
Millie Kirkham was a little reluctant at first to do an interview as she had been mis-quoted in the past and had that fear of it happening again. She agreed to the Q & A after she was advised she would not be coming to Australia for the first "Elvis in Concert" tour.
Millie answered every question and seemed to be most happy and full of life for her age at that time.

Elvis Hologram Show Delayed: This week a US a federal court ordered Pulse Evolution to pay $524,196 to Darren Bagert, a Broadway producer, for breaching their deal to develop a new Elvis Presley Hologram musical.
Pulse Evolution specializes in making lifelike holograms for concerts and films. It previously resurrected rapper Tupac Shakur at the Coachella Music Festival in 2012, and breathed new life into singer Michael Jackson at the Billboard Music Awards in 2014.
In 2014 Pulse Evolution next acquired the rights to create a virtual version of Presley from EPE. It hoped to put him back on stage in a 90-minute show, and brought in Darren Bagert, a producer of An American in Paris and Dear Evan Hansen, to oversee the $15 to $25 million project.
Note that although Priscilla has recently stated that EPE were "not interested in a Hologram show" Simon Fuller is still working on the show haven been given the rights by EPE!
According to their agreement, Bagert had to assemble a creative team, build a budget, and attend meetings with potential investors. Pulse Evolution, in return, had to give him advances against a production fee, a slice of the net profits, and 200,000 shares of its common stock.
However after Bagert fulfilled his obligations, Pulse Evolution announced a new partnership with the creator of American Idol, Simon Fuller and stated that he would focus on developing the Elvis Presley hologram show.
“That was a game-changing moment for us,” recalled Bagert, emphasizing that “two producers were attached to the same project.”

The Broadway producer continued to work on the show behind the scenes. But, last October, he had enough, and decided to bring Pulse Evolution to arbitration. He claimed that Pulse Evolution never paid him some of the advances against the production fee, and the shares that he received were all restricted stock, meaning that he could not sell them on the open market.
Pulse Evolution chose not to defend the matter in arbitration and Bagert was awarded $500,000, finding that the Pulse had breached their agreement.
Bagert then sued to enforce the arbitration award in federal court, and Pulse Evolution, once again, decided not to defend the matter. The court has now ordered it to pay up.

A live, rock 'n' roll band of all-star greats will accompany Elvis and bring this stage production to life for the first time at Graceland. A not-to-be-missed concert event.
In addition to the holiday shows, Graceland will also unveil on December 16 a white, Knabe baby grand piano that was originally purchased by Elvis for the home in 1957. The piano will be placed back in the famous music room, which will be restored to its original 1960s-ear appearance including the white piano.

Elvis Auction starts to Unravel?: It seems that the "Aloha jumpsuit" that was claimed as one of Elvis' originals has been pulled from the auction after it was shown to be fake. EIN hopes that the general public will be checking the facts very closely before spending any of their hard-earned cash on these dodgy looking items that have recently been publicised in the general media.
"Elvis' Childhood Home" is still up for auction but now called "NOT THE BIRTHPLACE" and altered to "A home Elvis Presley spent some of his childhood years in".
As the news item rightly states "The below information about the items in the auction has not been verified."

The flimsy tabloid news story continues, "Florida collectors are selling off their treasure trove of ELVIS memorabilia worth millions, Bill Kinard and his wife Linda have decided to sell off their extensive collection of Elvis memorabilia"
Fans may remember that Bill Kinard was previously involved in the attempted sale of other Elvis memorabilia that didn't go so well.
The suggestion is that "what Bill claims is Elvis's 1957 Cadillac could sell for up to $3 million at auction"
It all sounds way too far-fetched to us and that a possible scam is being tried out in a last-ditch effort for cash.
Surely with genuine Elvis artefacts potentially "worth millions", anyone would go through EPE's Auctions where the big-spenders go and which guarantee authenticity?

Tom Petty's Top Ten Elvis Songs: With the sad passing of the respected Tom Petty we look back at when Rolling Stone asked him to pick his ten favorite songs for their special playlist series.
In 1962 Petty’s uncle got a job on the film set of Presley’s film ‘Follow That Dream‘ and Petty had an opportunity to stop by for a visit. “He arrived in a fleet of white Cadillac’s and people were screaming, handing records over a chain-link fence for him to sign. I remember his hair was so black that the sunshine was glowing off of it,” recalls Petty. That moment was pivotal for Petty and it lit a fever in him to get every Presley record he could.
Petty seems especially impressed by the fact that Presley knew some of the old songs he later made his own, such as the obscure ‘That’s All Right’ by Arthur Crudup and ‘Baby, Let’s Play House’. Petty prefers the pre-Army Presley and states that ‘Heartbreak Hotel’ could have been the national anthem. |

Petty has fond memories of being a young kid and hearing the lyrics “She kiss so hard she bruise my lips/ Hurts so good my heart just flips,” in ‘Mean Woman Blues’ and he describes ‘One Night’ as “heavenly.” Rightly so, given Presley changed the lyrics of Smiley Lewis’s version from “One night of sin is what I’m paying for” to “One night with you is what I’m now praying for.”
As Petty says, “Elvis became the soundtrack of my early years.”

Tom Petty has Died aged 66: Tom Petty has died after suffering a cardiac arrest. The singer, aged 66, was rushed to hospital unconscious. The iconic artist had suffered a full cardiac arrest in his Malibu home Sunday night and was found unconscious and not breathing.
Petty was born in Gainesville, Florida on Oct. 20, 1950, into a rough childhood. He lived in poverty with an abusive, alcoholic father.
An encounter with Elvis Presley in the '50s saw him gain an interest in rock music. Aged 17, he dropped out of school to play in a band.
He would later rise to fame with his band Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers in the 1970s.
The band's self-titled album dropped in 1976, eventually going Gold and with two classic rock anthems, “Breakdown” and “American Girl”.
It was the band's third album, 1979's Damn the Torpedoes! which saw the band enjoy their breakthrough to mainstream success. The album went triple Platinum, producing two US top 20 hits with “Refugee” and “Don't Do Me Like That".
They continued to perform over the past four decades, and played a sold-out show at BST Hyde Park in London this year.
Petty's final concert was last week at the Hollywood Bowl concluding their 40th anniversary tour. He told Rolling Stone that he thought this would be the group's last tour together.

How 'Suspicious Minds' found its way to Elvis: In USA Today Tennessean 'Suspicious Minds' composer Mark James recently expanded about how his classic composition got to be recorded by Elvis.
Mark James: I recorded the song first in 1968 for Scepter Records, working with Chips Moman. They loved it, up at Scepter Records. They said, “Smash!” Chips and I went up there and we had a big party, a big promotional thing, 25 promotional people were there. They all said "smash, smash, smash" and they even gave Chips a Rolls Royce for producing that. … It was a small label and maybe they didn’t know how to market it like Atlantic or other people. Anyway, it never happened.
The title 'Suspicious Minds' came to me one night. I was playing organ bass pedals at an apartment I was living in and I was getting kind of a riff thing, same riff, and I was getting the groove of it, playing bass pedals. And then when I got a certain portion, I went to the studio and finished it up on grand piano. And when Chips heard it, he said, “Man, I want to cut that on you,” and he was real excited.

But, let me skip to when Elvis arrived at American Sound. Don Crews was the publisher, and every time I’d go back to American Studios he’d say, “Well, you capture anything for Elvis yet? You know he’s coming in in a week and a half.” And I said, "No, not yet, not yet.".. l hadn’t come up with anything. (Don) says, “What about your old catalog?”
He said, “What about 'Suspicious Minds'?” I turned around in the chair and it was like seeing a golden number one and I knew that was the song I’d been looking for. And of course, I said, “That’s the song I’m looking for, that’s the song!” And I felt like telling George Klein, Marty Lacker, I felt like even shaking Elvis and saying, “This is a great one for you, man, to record.” But I knew probably everyone in the world had probably said that to him. So all I could do is tell all the guys around him, “Get him to cut this, this is a great one for him!”
… Sure enough, when Elvis came in, he played it for him and Elvis said, “Let’s hear that again.” And I wasn’t there. And sure enough, he got it several times, liked it so much Chips made a tape for him. He took it home.
I stayed away from the recording session, but I went to the studio one time. I went upstairs and I heard they were taking a break. … I was curious and at the same time I said, “Is he really Elvis and is he going to cut ‘Suspicious Minds’?”, that’s the main reason I went in there. And I went in there and he happened to be leaning up against the baffle. It’s real funny, I said, “Hey Elvis, I heard you might cut ‘Suspicious Minds.’ ” And he said, “Hey Mark, been thinking about it,” you know, just like Elvis would say it. ... But, I mean, this was a great guy.
Elvis invited me to Vegas when “Suspicious Minds” was going up, and I remember he was at a table talking in a long room with Sammy Davis or Andy Williams, two people, way across the room. And I came in the room and he walked, stood up, walked clear across the room and said, “Hi Mark. How you been doing?”

Chasing Bernstein - Giving Elvis His Due: One of the most famous quotes about Elvis was made by distinguished American composer and conductor, Leonard Bernstein. While Bernstein’s observation that Elvis “is the greatest cultural force in the twentieth century” is widely reported, it is usually not sourced beyond Bernstein’s name.
EIN decided to investigate where and when Bernstein made his famous statement. While our investigations led to a number of dead ends, the following passage in Pulitzer Prize winner David Halberstam’s riveting account of the 1950’s, appropriately called the Fifties, gave much needed clarity to the origin of Bernstein’s words. |

In chapter 31 of his 1993 New York Times bestseller, Halberstam discusses the events that signified the break between the older, more staid America and the new, fast-paced America. The first of these was around segregation and the second was Elvis Presley. Halberstam wrote:
In cultural terms, his coming was nothing less than the start of a revolution. Once, in the late sixties, Leonard Bernstein, the distinguished American composer and conductor, turned to a friend of his named Dick Clurman, an editor at Time magazine. They were by chance discussing political and social trends. "Elvis Presley," said Bernstein, "is the greatest cultural force in the twentieth century."
Clurman thought of the sultry-faced young man from the South in tight clothes and an excessive haircut who wiggled his body while he sang about hound dogs. Bernstein’s statement seemed a bit much. “What about Picasso?” he began, trying at the same time to think of other major cultural forces of the century. “No,” Bernstein insisted, and Clurman could tell he was deadly serious, “it’s Elvis. He introduced the beat to everything and he changed everything–music, language, clothes, it’s a whole new social revolution–the Sixties came from it. Because of him a man like me barely knows his musical grammar anymore.”
Or, as John Lennon, one of Elvis’s admirers, once said, “Before Elvis there was nothing.”
If he was revolutionary, then he was an accidental one, an innately talented young man who arrived at the right place at the right time. He had no political interests at all, and through his music symbolized the coming together of black and white cultures into the mainstream in a way that had never happened before…

'Roustabout' FTD Soundtrack Review: Roustabout was Elvis' 16th movie, it had been five months since Elvis’ last album session and his publishers had a chance to secure soundtrack material from a variety of composers. Eleven songs were needed and while the carnival theme stopped most of them having any inspired lyrics, at least the composers Leiber / Stoller and Otis Blackwell were included in the selection.
Reaching #1 on Billboard in early 1965, it would Elvis’ last chart topping album until "Aloha From Elvis Via Satellite" in 1973.
53 years after its original release FTD is pleased to announce the long awaited "Classic Album" version of "Roustabout". Packaged in 7" format with a full colour 16-page memorabilia booklet, it contains some previously unreleased material.
So why has it taken FTD so long to release? It was once noted that only the masters had been located in the vaults, so there was not much to include for a “Classic Album”...

"Elvis: The Wonder of You" Glorified end to Australian Tour: The Australian "Elvis: The Wonder Of You" tour ended its capital city run last weekend with stunning reviews and packed houses. Close to forty years since Elvis checked out of Heartbreak Hotel, The King was back in the building and rocking Australian audiences at every venue.
The review from Elvis' last stand in Melbourne included..
Elvis Presley is a legend and although it’s almost been 40-years since his death, his music is still just as powerful and unfortunately for Australians, he never had the opportunity of touring Australia until now. Using past footage of Elvis from concerts and his films plus the live music from an orchestra and back-up singers, Elvis Presley the Wonder of You is a true concert spectacular that almost makes it feel like the King is actually performing.

performance. Although Elvis is no longer with us, Schilling creates a link for the audience. Matched with the exceptional orchestra and back-up singers, Elvis Presley the Wonder of You is quite a powerful performance which also tugs at your emotional heartstrings. Given that, it’s quite a loud experience!
Hearing Elvis performing American Trilogy with the live orchestra was definitely a wow moment and there’s plenty of them throughout the concert. Seeing the actual footage of Elvis on the giant screens not only showcased the talent of this man but also his wide range of vocals that becomes quite an immersive experience from start to finish. Songs such as Always On My Mind and You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin are lifted to a new level thanks to the live music that not only pays homage to the original songs but creates a new experience for both new and old.

'ELVIS: Las Vegas ‘74' FTD Review: A double set featuring both Dinner and Midnight shows from August 20, 1974 from Elvis' legendary 1974 Summer Season at the Las Vegas Hilton.
For Elvis 1974 was an emotionally turbulent year. This was his sixth season singing to the Las Vegas casino audiences, still doing two shows a night, and he was really feeling the loss of Priscilla. Yet this inner turmoil helped produce the most fascinating Las Vegas season of his career. He gave some of his longest performances and with a varied set-list including great new songs It’s Midnight, Promised Land, If You Talk In Your Sleep and Help
Me.
One of the fascinations of this new double-pack is that it presents Elvis' second and third concerts by which time Elvis was back once again to the old regular set-list routine. Whatever the reason for Elvis' backwards step, fans can consider whether these concerts capture Elvis' happiness at being back pleasing his audience with the regular set-list.

Mindi Miller Interview with EIN: Mindi Miller was a working actress when she met Elvis in early 1975. She was interested in karate (she performed all her own movie stunts), exploring spirituality and the Bible and so they had a lot in common.
Mindi Miller and Elvis bonded over their common interests and soon afterwards he asked her to go on tour with him in April 1975.
She stayed friends with Elvis through the years - along with members of the 'Memphis Mafia' - and attended his funeral.

'Platinum: A Life In Music' Re-Release OUT NOW: Sony UK has re-released the classic 4-Cd set 'Platinum: A Life In Music'- in a small-book format twenty years after its first release in 1997.
The set chronicles the outstanding career of Elvis Presley (1954 to 1977) from a unique perspective and it includes 100 performances, 77 of which were previously unreleased in 1997. This historic overview traces his development as an artist and emphasizes how Elvis' music always returned to its unshakable core values. This 4-CD box set contains a 48-page book and consists mostly of previously unreleased alternate takes of Elvis Presley's hits.
There is no info on whether this 20th anniversary release includes audio upgrades of all the "77 were previously unreleased takes" which have since been remastered.
The publicity notes, "You probably think you've heard all there is to hear from The King, what with countless Elvis retrospectives, anthologies, and reissues flooding the market. While PLATINUM is far from the first Elvis boxset, it's unique in that it's composed largely of previously unreleased material. 'Marty Lacker: A Life Well-Lived' & Elvis at American Studio's Interview: It was with immense sadness that last month EIN had to report on the death of our great friend - and a true friend to Elvis - Marty Lacker. We will miss him dearly.
Marty is well-known as one of the key members of the Memphis Mafia and also co-Best Man at Elvis' wedding. He was known for both his honesty and being forthright with his opinions. He was the only member of the Memphis Mafia who still watched and commented on recent Elvis News. He had no issue with holding people to account (especially ones who would inflate their importance within Elvis' legacy) and would regularly ask EIN to add his comments or to correct any inaccuracy.
Elvis fans often ask about Marty Lacker's background, how he came to meet Elvis, as well as his involvement in the music industry outside of working for The King.
As a prelude to Ken Sharp's fascinating interview with Marty Lacker and a discussion about Elvis' famous American Studio' Memphis sessions, EIN presents "Marty Lacker: a life well-lived" in which Marty tells of his life in the music industry, his friendship with Elvis along with his dislike of the over-controlling Col Parker.

UPDATED - 'Way Down In The Jungle Room' EIN Review: Released for August 2016 this SONY Legacy pack celebrates the 40th anniversary of Elvis’ last recording sessions which took place in Graceland’s Jungle Room.
The publicity noted the sessions “have been newly mixed by Matt Ross-Spang at Sam Phillips Recording” and “includes both outtakes and in-the-studio dialog, providing a ‘fly-on-the-wall experience’ of what the sessions were like".
Elvis' original 76/77 albums were fairly uninspired collections (bar a few fine singles) and on the original LPs it was almost impossible to glimpse any sign of creative input from Elvis through the syrupy overdubs. It wasn't until the release of FTD’s magnificent ‘The Jungle Room Sessions’ that many fans began to understand the raw emotion, close camaraderie and Elvis’ personal feelings that were revealed by these intimate Graceland sessions.
To produce that same kind of revelation for the 'General Public' would be a very tricky project but that is exactly what the new legacy team has done - and to great effect.

Did Elvis Record 'Tiger Man' At Sun?: A question that has puzzled Elvis fans through the years is whether he actually recorded the song ‘Tiger Man’ during his years at SUN studios.
The basic question is why did Elvis refer to 'Tiger man' several times in concert as “The second song that I ever recorded, not too many people heard it”?
And if Elvis DID record it, then why hasn’t any reference to it at SUN or proof of its existence been found?
Elvis would first perform ‘Tiger Man’ in concert at his first 1969 Las Vegas International season and would continue playing it through the years – usually in a medley with Mystery Train - until his last performance at Saginaw on May 3 1977. He would sing it over 150 times on stage!
The thought that there might be an acetate or undiscovered tape of Elvis at SUN singing ‘Tiger Man’ is a mouth-watering concept - but is it an unlikely fantasy or strong possibility?
